Welcome Back to The Catholic Hack!
In Matthew 23:9 Jesus tells us we are to “Call no one on earth your father; you have but one Father in heaven.” So what gives… The Catholic Church calls its Priests’ “Father”… isn’t that against the very words of Jesus?
The short answer is no… let’s dive deep and get to the Truth of this challenge.St. Paul, St. Peter, and St. John would all have to be blatantly disobeying Jesus IF (and thats a big if) Jesus truly indented to NOT allow us to call any man by the title of “Father” no matter what. The key here is context… we need to understand the context of Matthew 23:9 if we are going to understand how the Catholic Church uses the title Father for its Priests. Please send me your feedback.
God Bless
